Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.

US performer Finn, who featured in beloved television series including Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away aged 60.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California on Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, as reported by news outlets.

"He saw everyone as a friend - only friends he hadn't encountered," his family shared in a announcement.

They added that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive TV Career

Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the lead character's sibling.

He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, playing a party host famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous popular shows, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series over nearly a decade.

His work in movies encompass It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".

Beyond the Screen

Beyond his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired many learners during his career and it would be difficult to find anyone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.

Offering condolences, peer actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared publicly.

The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
